Speakers are like champagne. Generally speaking, the bigger your budget, the better the bottle. Generally. In addition, just like champagne, speaker costs fall into levels of corresponding value. For the sake of simplicity:
<$5,000 - these are speakers that tend to be newer in their speaking career. The closer you get to $500 the riskier it gets when it comes to quality of the presentation. That being said, Speechless has some absolute gems in this range.
$7,500-$15,000 - the "premier cru" of speakers. This is the sweet spot for value and price.
$20,000+ - the "grand cru". The BEST speakers come from this pool. However, value is NOT guaranteed. You need to make sure you have a fit.
In addition to the above speaking fees, expect to pay for travel. We recommend a travel "buy-out" or a flat fee for travel so you're not dealing with expense reports, actuals, or stuck in flight choice details.
It is also standard practice to provide one night hotel at the location of the event or a comparable quality hotel.
Extras - and finally, many speakers offer additional items to provide value to your audience- books, book signings, workbooks, etc. These tend to be a per attendee fee and range from $5-$25.
If you intend to record the speaker, let Speechless and the speaker know from the beginning so we can discuss your needs. Not all speakers allow recordings, and there may be an additional fee to record as well.

And, most speakers have their own agreement ready to go.
If you need to cancel, we'll work with the speaker to make it happen. Ideally, we're simply rescheduling the event. Some speakers have cancellation terms that include costs associated with cancellations a certain amount of days out from the presentation (because of the opportunity cost of holding that date for you). Any such terms will be clearly stated before making any agreements.
If there is an emergency, and the speaker cancels, Speechless will do everything we can to find a suitable replacement (if you so choose). The tightest cancellation we had to fill was 3 hours prior - the speaker was in a car accident in the morning (6 am) and the event started at 9am. We were able to secure a fabulous speaker in the area in time and he left the audience speechless (followed by a standing ovation).
